The Character of Antique Clocks

It is a common fact that we are all slaves to time. The terms “Time is of the essence” or “Time heals all wounds” and even “Time flies when you’re having fun” are all indicative of how time seems to permeate our very existence. This obsession with time has made us all into compulsory time watchers. Of course, we all understand that time is the one sure thing in life. No matter what, time always moves forward. With that being said, there is no better way to mark the hours of the day than on antique clocks. These time pieces are endlessly beautiful and add history and character to any room they tell time in.

Antique clocks are pieces that have survived throughout time. They still work if they have undergone proper care and maintenance. Whether you decide you love grandfather clocks or mantle clocks, an antique will add the character of history and survival to your room.

There is something quite magical in entering an antique shop and coming face to face with all different kinds of antique clocks. There are pendulum clocks and wood clocks to choose from. Each clock belongs to a different era. From the Civil War to the French Revolution, you will rarely find two clocks that are the same. There are clocks that have traveled from all over the world to end up in the little antique shop in which you have visited. From Milan to Paris to Old New York, your clock will have a different character and story than someone else’s.

All in all, it is important to note that antiques have character. They are not standard or ordinary by any stretch of the imagination. Own one and you too will be enchanted by the allure of these clocks.
